Neurodegenerative Disorders Drug Discovery
Neurodegenerative diseases (NDs) include amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, spinal cord injury, and others in a broad family of disorders characterized by the progressive loss of disease-specific neuronal population. Misfolding of physiological proteins in brain and glial cells is a common cause of NDs. The early signs of NDs include mobility difficulties, dementia, cognitive decline, changes in brain function, and gradual malfunction of synapses, neurons, and glial cells.
